Ahh Venice
10 bonus point for whoever can tell me the origin of this post's title. I'm counting on either Kat, Su, Dre or Brooke to get it first.
So yesterday was pretty uneventful. I got on an airplane with the women's soccer team from the USAF base located in Aviano, Italy. They'd apparently just taken 2nd place out of all the USAF women's soccer teams in Europe. Good job ladies. We flew over the Alps. Alps=gorgeous. Better than Brad Pitt in any movie and/or mini-skirt. Got to Treviso, took a bus to Mestre, a train to Sacile, and a car to the home of one Mr. Bart Wilbanks...nice guy that Bart. FABULOUS pad he has here. Seriously, you look out the windows at mountains and little mountain villages. Amazing. I slept for about 4 hours, woke up for dinner, watched "The Man in the Iron Mask," went to bed around 12:15-30, woke up at 11:30 this morning.
Went to Venice. When can I move?? It's beautiful. Best Italian food I've ever had in my life. Way better than Ragazzi's. Carrie and I just wandered around for a long time, ate some ice cream (Nutella...holy crap...heaven), ate some pizza, ate some ravioli, ate some more ice cream (Strawberry...even better if you can imagine), got on a train, played with an Italian kid, came back to Bart's. Oh yeah, we also got chased by some crazy man through the streets of Venice. I don't know what his deal was, but he obviously had something wrong with him. Luckily this really nice Italian couple walked with us until he finally decided not to hang out with us any more. It was really truly bizarre. He never once tried to touch us. And he wasn't even remotely discrete about the fact that he was stalking us. He just wanted to hang out. We must just look so friendly.
Oh! And DLF, I heard it today..."Ciao Bella!" I've decided that when I write my book about these adventures, that will be the title.
More inspiration for that endeavor to come tomorrow as we head to ROME!!!!
Then I'm off to Florence, Pisa, and....here it comes Mr. Motley...Cinque Terre!
Alrighty folks. good night good night. If you want a post card, please email me your address and I'll get to it some time before August 10.
oh yeah...all day I kept just singing in my head, "Heaven...I'm in heaven..." except for when we were in the San Marco square with the BILLIONS of pigeons. Hellish, I tell you. Sharp faces everywhere. I was sure that my demise was close at hand. whew. another crises averted. ahh venice.
