My apologies for momentarily falling off the planet

I haven't been neglecting my blog and the 5 people who still read it, I promise. I just haven't had anything exciting happening. I teach, I Eagle, I eat, I read email, I sleep. That's about it. But this weekend was pretty good.

Saturday:
Brookie and I found an apartment. We filled out the applications and gave them money and everything, so it's official. We can move in on August 25. Now, I do not, in the least, regret living in NY or anything that went along with that, but finding an apartment is SO much easier here (and probably everywhere else in the world...except maybe Tokyo). They're seriously begging you to move in. They give you specials and discounts depending on where you work (Brooke and I work for "Preferred Employers" by the way), they have a fully decorated model apartment for you to look at, they give you your choice of available floor plans and apartments because, unlike NY, they actually have available apartments. It's just crazy. My perspective on the whole apartment hunting process was so skewed because of NY. I just can't believe how simple it was. AND I'm only going to be paying about $25 more than I'm paying for the shed. If only we could move in next week (which would be the case in NY). But alas, we must wait.

Also on Saturday, I framed my NYU diploma and purchased frames for a little decorating project I'm working on, which I'm sure will look fantastic in my new apartment.

Sunday:
My church is doing a series on Song of Solomon, which my pastor prefaced with, "A lot of people think that this book is an allegory about God's love for us. It's not. It's about sex." I wish that everyone I know could participate in this series. That's a hint if you didn't catch it. You should all move to Raleigh...at least for Sunday mornings.

Monday:
I talked Dre into coming to town. It wasn't hard because she was just as bored as I was. We went to Red Lobster to celebrate our birthdays, which we always do together, but which we hadn't done yet this year even though my birthday is in March and hers is in April. Anywho, we went to Red Lobster. At least I think Dre was there. I don't remember. Jon, the waiter, didn't seem to notice her at all. I'm not kidding, and I'm not being conceited (back me up Dre). Jon did not stop staring at me all night, including the time he threw a fork in Dre's lap. And because of this, we couldn't stop giggling throughout the entire meal, which probably just fueled Jon's little hopeful heart. I'm just glad I got the full portion, so I can nibble on it for the next 2 days and not have to go back to the Lobster again until after Jon is no longer employed there.

And that's pretty much it. Back to work. I failed to plan any lessons for tonight's class, but I'll work something up. I have 35 minutes.
