round and round we go
The problem as I see it is this: Women read into everything, and therefore do things that need to be read into in order to be understood. Men on the other hand, simple creatures that they are, do fairly straightforward and easily decipherable things, but because women are trying to read into it all, they are hopelessly confused. Because men's actions are simple, they expect the actions of others (even women) to be just as simple. But women's actions just aren't that way most of the time, leaving the poor menfolk also hopelessly confused. So men need to learn how to take a hint, and women need to stop taking everything as a hint. And just for clarity and good measure, gentlemen, it would help us out of you were brutally honest with us. What if you just went through all your girl friends, letting each one know that you're not interested in her, even if (you think) it's a given? And then what if, just because you can't lie, you told the one you are interested in about your feelings? Like a big wacked-out game of duck, duck, goose.
I'm okay with being a duck, I swear. I might be even more okay with being the goose. You'll know for sure if I get up out of the circle and start chasing you.

By George, I think she's got it!
I, too, am liking this idea of a duck duck goose game. Can that be our first homegroup meeting?! :oP
Good analogy with the Duck, Duck, Goose.
I would like to add that, assuming that we isolate this argument to matters of the heart and rules of attraction, if a women is not at all interested in a guy, then she is likely not to make any assumptions or attempt to read beyond the obvious. In this case women take on the simple, straight forward mind of a man. It's only when they are interested that they long for some indication of shared attraction.
I'm all for a solid game of Duck, Duck, Goose...but imagine the awkwardness when, and if, you lay down that fatal slap accompanied by the "goose" call, make a couple of laps around the circle and look back to realize that you are running without pursuit.

anonyblair......that risk is what life is all about. if you never take that risk then you sometimes miss out on something great. you learn something new from every lap you make around that circle, whether or not you're being chased.
Was it only a year ago that we were meeting up in my apartment to go out to the Halloween Parade together, you as a teacher, me as Jem? My how time flies... I miss you!!!!
yes, Yes, YES!!! you wrote exactly what i've been thinking about lately. have you been reading my mind?
