let's start with New Year's in Times Square

Emily and I moved to NY the same weekend back in '03. That means that we were both residents of the Big Apple over the course of two new years. However, neither of us were actually in the city to celebrate either one. Now, however, a year after I moved, we both found ourselves there with no prior engagements, so we decided to make a once-in-a-lifetime experience of it and go to Times Square. We had some second thoughts earlier in the day, but upon creating a list of pros and cons, we decided that the story we'd have afterward outweighed any risk of pneumonia we ran by standing out in the freezing cold and wet for eight hours straight.
Now, Emily and I have shared some truly hilarious adventures, and we've made some absolutely spectacular video (which I'd be happy to show anyone who wants to come over for half an hour), so we knew that no matter what actually happened in Times Square, we'd make it fun. We just didn't expect it to be fun on its own, so we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was.

It was raining when we first arrived and packed ourselves into the pens where they were to keep us until midnight. There wasn't much umbrella room, so Em and I crouched under one tiny street vendor 'brella, and it was then that we heard a voice from behind us saying, "That was a good idea." We turned around to find five USC students/alumni shivering and growing wetter by the minute. Offering them our extra umbrella, we became friends for life...or at least the next 8 hours. I told them I'd never remember all their names. I've already forgotten most of them. Let's see, there was Ali, Chris (?), Corey, Gen and that other guy. Sorry Other Guy. I told you I was bad with names.
Anycrap, we had a blast and were SO glad we went. Here's midnight.
