I'm a freak

Well apparently I've been "tagged" by my amiga Claire to tell you all what a colossal freak I am. Thanks a lot Claire. I'm paying it forward...even though you didn't tell me I was tagged. Maybe there's another Beth in your life?? Oh well. I'm playing anyway.

So the rules are, once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with "6 weird facts/things/habits about yourself." In the end you need to choose the 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their comments and tell them to read yours.

1) Sometimes I cease to be myself, breaking instead into a character. Sometimes these characters are the creations of other folks' minds, sometimes they come from within myself, sometimes they are premeditated (developed in my mind), but often they are not. The only ways you will possibly be able to discern what's what is to have either seen the character before or just know that it's not "me" talking. This gets confusing for people who don't know me well, or who don't do well with TV/movie references.

2) If I must wear pants, I prefer that they be jeans, but really, I'd rather not wear pants at all. Sometimes, when I'm alone in my apartment, I just take them off. I'm really kind of upset that I missed "No Pants Day." Nobody told me.

3) I'm afraid of birds. My family LOVES to make fun of me for this. They're just so skittery (I don't think that's a word, but it's the best non-word I could think of. I don't mean skittish. I really mean skittery). They move so fast, they could move in any direction at any moment, and they have (here it comes, family...say it with me) sharp faces. They could poke your eyes out at any moment. Plus they carry diseases, and they poop on you. I don't know why people like them. As long as I am enclosed in a car or building and the birds are outside, I'm fine. But I don't like to be within striking distance from them.

4) I have to smell public restroom soap. I don't like to. I have to. It's an obsession. Chili's used to have really yummy-smelling soap, but they changed it, and now it's not as good. At least the one on Glenwood. I don't know if every Chili's has the same soap these days. They used to. PF Chang's is pretty good too.

5) On a related note, ever since seeing an Oprah show 5 years ago about hand washing, I have to sing "Happy Birthday" in my mind while washing my hands to make sure I do it long enough. I also have to sing "Amen" at the end of it for it to truly be finished.

6) I was having a really hard time coming up with this last one mostly because I often don't recognize my own weirdness. So I asked my friend Carrie for some ideas. Here's what she said:
"I think it is really bizarre that you would bring a Jansport bookbag for 2 months in Europe. It might even be weirder that it was normal to you." Thanks, Church. You're totally right.

NOW for the tagging. Do I even know 6 people with blogs? You'd think I would. How about Kat, Su, Whitney, Ann, Megan and Brooke? I think you're really the few who have blogs and (might) still read mine. Go. Do it now. Freaks.
