Fitness Update: Owie

Before I begin, I'd like to point out (and I hope it's still there for you to see) that the ad that was just off to the right side there said, "Cash for blogging: Blog about free cash and get cash while your readers are online Free!" Or something like that.

I joined a gym the other day, which is just another step (pun entirely intended) toward preparing for the Avon Walk. I thought it was a good choice of gyms because several of my friends are also members there (accountability), there's a location two blocks from work and a mile and a half from home (convenience), and there was a really cute guy there the first day (motivation), who I know from somewhere, but I can't place him. Apparently he knew me too, and kind of stalked me a little bit, though I've got no problem with that. It's just driving me crazy that I don't know how I know him or what his name is.

Anyway, I liked the gym even more when I found out they were doing a promotion where they waive the initial $99 fee and only charge $25 a month. AND you get two free sessions with a personal trainer (the first of which kicked my butt yesterday, and it was only the "physio" for them to see what they've got to work with) and a free consultation with a nutritionist/chiropractor.

I liked the gym EVEN MORE when the nutritionist told me I needed to eat a lot more. Sweet! I disliked when the trainer told me I should stop eating out, but he made a good point about how much money I was spending on restaurants and how I could make much healthier meals at home for less money. And then how I could spend the money I used to spend on restaurants on a personal trainer, thus making two healthier choices at once. So that's what I'm doing. Or trying to do at least.

Eating out, for me, is not really about the food. It's a social thing, and a meal I don't have to put much thought or effort into. But I also love getting together at someone's house to cook dinner, so I suppose all my friends will just have to get ready for a lot of that. You hear that, friends? Get ready! Black bean soup? Check. Baked chicken with delicious home-made sauces? Check. Brown rice boiled in chicken stock with yummy veggies and aforementioned chicken? You know it. This is making me hungry. I think I'll have one of those delicious, Pink Lady apples that are just waiting in the fridge for me to chomp into. I mean, the nutritionist said I could.
