It's that time of the month!
Ewww, gross! Not that time of the month. It's time for the hoegroup's monthly film/food event, which, after last month's camouflage success (G.I. Hoe), might permanently become a monthly film/food/fashion event. Tonight, I'll be hosting the "Mr. T(ea) Party," where we'll partake of anything associated with British high tea (Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast, scones, crumpets, custard, digestives, sugar lumps, etc.), wear T-shirts (and maybe rock some while we're at it?), and enjoy selected episodes of season one of the A*Team. Everyone seems to be pretty excited about it.
Like I said, we do this every month and have for almost a year now. I guess technically "Fried and Frejudice" was the first one, though afterward we took several months off to let our innards recuperate before starting up a monthly shindig. Since then though, we've done them regularly. Let's see, there was "Choco-LOT," "The John Candy Shoppe," "Breakfast With Bacon," then the Fall Foreign Film and Food Frenzy, which is a 3-month series. Last fall, we did a French month, an Italian one, and a Chinese one, and we finished out the year with "Yo Mama's Potluck." Then we kicked off 2007 with the "Poppin-n-Lockin Breakdance Revolution," followed by "J. Lo-Cal" and "G.I. Hoe," which brings us up to the present.
We've got ideas to carry us through to the end of the year, but after that, we're going to need a little help. Anybody have any ideas? Anything goes, really, but you have to have a theme that joins together a specific movie or actor and a food or type of food. The food can be rather broad or even rather vague, or it can be completely restricted. "Poppin-n-Lockin," for example, was a bit of a stretch, with attendees free to bring anything involving the words pop, lock or break, and we watched Breakin'. When we watched Amelie though, we just had crepes.
Tell you what. Let's make a contest of it! The generator of the best film/food event idea (bonus points for involving themed fashion) will have an acrostic poem composed in his or her honor. Who's up to the challenge?!?!
Just a few rules:

Just a few rules:
- Foreign film/food frenzy ideas are not eligible. They're too easy.
- The event must have a name.
- If you suggest a theme we already have planned, you're a genius, but you can't win. We're trying to get new ideas here.
- The event must be able to be held within my 900-ish sq.ft. apartment.

If I lived in your town, I would buy seventy packs of McV's caramel digestives and come to your tea party.
If you brought even one pack of caramel digestives, you'd be more than welcome.
i am so about to eat a carmel digestive right now:) i wish i could come tonight, too:). it sounds so fun!
you are sparking my imagination,beth... i am putting my thinking cap on for ideas:)

Schwarzenegger night:
Movies: All things Arnold
Food: SchwarzenEGGS... benedict, florentine, boiled, scrambled, pumped up, etc. OR you could have it specifically be "Predator" and then only eat carnivorous things- you can pretend Cows and chickens are carnivorous I suppose- or eat SNAKES! (For the vegetarians it could be "really aggressive tofu" or something).
Clothing: Muscle T's, Hot pants, cool sunglasses, machine guns... etc.
And... you could create prizes for those who are able to communicate solely with quotes from Arnold's hits. Just imagine!

My theme would be Always a Bridesmaid, never a Bride. Have wedding reception style foods, including cake, watch ANY of a bizzilion wedding movies (personally I'd go with My Best Friends Wedding) and everyone wear old bridesmaid outfits that have been hanging in the closet for a thousand years.
I vote for anonymous's idea. It's better than all of mine!
Mystic Pizza Night.
Food - pizza, obviously.
Fashion - aprons, hairnets, whatever you'd wear if you worked in a pizza place.
