the progression of my gchat hookerdom
Songs just get stuck in my head sometimes, and I can't get them out. Sometimes this is a bad thing, sometimes a minor annoyance, sometimes it doesn't bother me at all, and sometimes it thrusts me and everyone around me into a musical hell. For the past 3 days, for various reasons (known and unknown), I've had random 70's songs stuck in my head. And maybe I'm just jealous that Jon B can broadcast what he's listening to via gchat and I can't, or maybe I just want to share with the world what's stuck in my brain, but I've been posting excerpts from the songs as my gchat "status."
The other day, it was "IF you want my body, AND you think I'm sexy, COME on baby, let me know." That one got there from when I was making the playlist for this weekend's Rockin' Roller Romp 2007 (at Wheels in Durham. come on out. 10-midnight. Friday. $7.50 at the door). I've actually just gotten a request to go back to that one. Richelle said it was her favorite. Yesterday, and I don't know where this one came from, "Take a Chance on Me" was the song du jour, so my message said, "If you change your mind, I'm the first in line. Honey I'm still free. Take a chance on me." Dan said this one sounded like I was advertising. Maybe I am...to the right taker, that is.
Well last night, Brookie and I watched Anchorman, so today, the song that is stuck both in my head and on my gchat status is "Afternoon Delight." The more I think about the words, the more inappropriate I know it is, but the more I sing it, the happier it makes me. I just can't help it. It's one of those songs. I leave you with it.
Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight.
My motto's always been: When it's right, it's right.
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day,
And you know the night is always gonna be there any way?
Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite -
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite,
And the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.
Sky rockets in flight.
Afternoon delight.
Afternoon delight.
Started out this morning feeling so polite.
I always thought a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite,
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might
Try nibbling a little afternoon delight.
Sky rockets in flight.
Afternoon delight.
Afternoon delight.
Please be waiting for me baby when I come around.
We could make a lot of lovin' 'fore the sun goes down.
Sky rockets in flight.
Afternoon delight.
Afternoon delight!
I'm Ron Burgundy?
